The research team consists of eight partners coming from three countries and representing all the three sides of the knowledge triangle: education, research, business. Politecnico di Milano is the coordinating partner. The research staff at Department of Mechanical Engineering will contribute to the project mainly through expertise supplied in materials science (development of new alloys)

Luleå University of Technology is located in the North of Sweden.
The Division of Product and Production development contributes with its core expertise on laser materials processing that has been developed since 1979.

Höganäs AB was founded in 1797 and is today the world leading supplier of iron and steel powder with a global market share of about 30%. The majority of powder based end products are found in the automotive sector and in house hold sector.

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft with its subsidiary Institute for Material and Beam Technology IWS, conducts applied research and development in the field of laser and surface technology. The core activities cover a wide range of areas such as laser materials processing, surface functionalization and coating, special joining technologies, system technology, process simulation, materials science, nanotechnology and additive manufacturing.

Certema is a multidisciplinary technological laboratory located in Tuscany (Italy) and structured into 5 technological areas to provide innovative and advanced technological services to a wide range of industrial sectors.

The Gestamp Automociòn group is represented in 22 countries, dedicated to the design, development and manufacturing of metal automotive components. Gestamp HardTech specifically develops and manufactures press hardened safety components such as side impact beams, bumpers and body components.

IMR Metal Powder Technologies GmbH is a privately owned company with its headquarter in Velden am Woerthersee, Carinthia (Austria), close to the production plant for metal powders and non-ferrous metal consumables for galvanising technologies. Powder production by gas atomization is a core competence of the company with patented nozzle technology and facilities in scale of several thousand tons of powder per year.
